Supporting a New Transatlantic Cable Route to Ireland

MDM is managing the marine survey campaign behind a proposed new transatlantic subsea cable system, currently investigating a landfall on Ireland’s south-west coast.

Project Overview

MDM is delighted to be supporting the development of a new transatlantic subsea telecommunications cable system, proposed to link the United States to a landfall in West Cork, Ireland. As part of the project, MDM managed and coordinated an extensive marine survey campaign — combining offshore and inshore geophysical and geotechnical surveys — completed between May and July 2025. All operations were carried out under strict environmental mitigation protocols, with a qualified Marine Mammal Observer on board throughout to protect marine mammals in the area.
